Top 5 after Famine 30

If i'm not mistaken, it's been 7 months since I last updated this godforsaken blog.
Always wanted to post sth regarding my holiday anecdotes, for some reasons, I didnt.
This time, the very reason that drove me to write this blog entry was simply to share the good experience of participating in 30-Hour Famine Camp.

Frankly speaking, my initial purpose of joining this camp was merely to take up the challenge of fasting for 30 hours.
Nth more than that.
And people just kept giving me the same kinda reactions whenever I told them I was going to this camp.

Jaw-dropping, eyebrow-raising, and as always, the intriguing question:
OMG, you're already so freaking skinny, why would u do that to urself?
And as always, I would give the SUPER fake answer:
To help the children.
(Usually I would end up getting beat up by the inquirer. LOL.)
Anyway, this camp turned out to be quite an experience and also an enlightenment to me.
I hav to say fasting isnt as hard as it seems/sounds to be. It had been interesting (since it was my first time), sometimes annoying, sometimes downright tiring, but overall interesting.
The camp was so packed with games, performance and video sharing.
The time just flew like no one's business, even the feeling of hunger was no longer there.
(The oni group photo I grabbed from FB. Havnt taken others from frens.)
The slogan for the 30-Hour Famine is "Light up their Life". In chinese, it is "to create no poverty city for the kids".
Apparently, it wasnt sth I expected/intended to do when i first joined this camp.
But in the end, it did change my mindset a bit on this whole helping-kids-concept.

I was so moved by the video played during the video sharing session.

Its definitely gonna be on my list of top 5 touching tear-jerkers.
Now u get why the subject line? hahah, pretty lame.
And TADA,
here is my latest list of TOP 5 Touchin' Tear-Jerkers:

#5:

Liu Li Interview On Nu Yu's Talk Show!

Here she is, Liu Li, the lady who had changed my perception about sponsoring a child.

I was trying to hold back my tears when I was watching this interview.

She is just amazing.
(Google her if u wanna find out her story)
(Incidentally, RM50 to sponsor a child, considerably cheap rite?
Again, this is gonna sound cheesy, like I'm trying to be Mister Malayisa, but perhaps, perhaps I would sponsor one when I start working in the future.)
#4:
Aftershock (movie)
a bit boring in the beginning,
but man, it gets darned moving at the end.
The most touching scene is undoubtedly the one where the mother kneels down in front of the daughter and asking for apology.
Sounds absurd but u would know the reason why the mother did so if u watch the entire movie.
#3:
A thousand Splendid Suns(Book)
Khaled tells us a story of two Afghanistan women and their struggles for lives in a society that thinks they should not live.
I was entirely engulfed in the lives of the characters,
and literally shed tears, as Mariam's being executed.
The flash back memories are plain tragic and painful.
Highly recommended by Jacoby!
#2:
My Sister's Keeper (Movie)
Got this movie from a fren.
Good recommendation.
For me, the adaptation is better than the book.
The heartwrenching scene tt got me weeping:
Kate asks Anna to do one last favor for her,
(Sisi, can u do me a favor?)
and it is sue for emancipation,
bcuz she believes she will die anyway.
One word~~SAD!
#1:
Japanese Drama: One Litre of Tears
In cases like mine, its difficult for a drama to make me shed tears in multiple scenes.
And yet One Litre of Tears made me shed more tears than I had for any other movie/drama/book.
The drama targets at ur tear ducts heartlessly, it might as well sponsored by Kleenex.
That's why this drama has always topped my list.

How can they cancel Beyonce!?

I'm so frigging angry with the whole Beyonce-postponed-concert thing.

The concert organizers said that the postponement is solely the decision of the artist and has nothing to do with other external reasons.

Oh, come on!

We all know this is all becuz of those stupid concervative people, who r so free to keep banning this and banning that.
Well, if they are really that outraged at the prospect of watching a pretty young woman shake her scantily-clad body on the stage,
why dun they just stay away from the concert and stop KACAU-KACAU.

There are still people out there like me, who would be glad to watch this kinda show.
Furthermore, if the young people in this country is so unstable and easily to be influenced, then I think these concervative people should have done a lot more of works in other fields, and certainly not to protest against a fantastic concert like this one.

Really Diu-Na-Sing with these people.

Even our neighbour Indonesia is ok with the morale standard of Beyonce's concert,
but why is it so difficult for us to accept this?

I guess somewhere out there, some people must be cursing these conservative people like what i'm doing right now.

Luckily the concert ticket could still be refunded.

And the only problem left is my two way bus tickets...but i guess those two tickets are non refundable.

HAIZZZ...

BAD LUCK...BAD LUCK

Let it be...

What would u feel after u have put so much effort into sth, but in the end it turns out to be nth?
I guess no one is more perfect than me to explain this feeling now.
Well, it is like...after taking tons of yogurt and banana, and yet u r still having really bad constipation.
It's a bad description but it really does convey my feeling right now.
I just screwed up my econometric midterm exam this morning.
And I feel really bad about it.
The reason i care so much about this paper is that I had studied this subject for almost four days.
4 days!
Didnt even care about the FMI exam at all.
My world just revolved around this damned subject during the last 4 days.
It turned out, days of hard work can't prevail against one silly step.
Huh!
I guess the only way for me to ease my "pain" now is to keep on whispering words of wisdom:
Let it be,
Let it be,
Let it be,
Let it be...
(u would definitely know what i mean if u hav listened to this song b4)

H1N1 hits UUM!!!

A historical day!

For both UUM and me.

This is the first time I encountered such a happening in my life.
I think u oredy knew it from the title of this entry.
H1N1 is attacking UUM!
Yesterday, my dear Uni has announced to suspend all classes and student activities for six days from today following the high number of students with mild H1N1 symptoms.

Following the announcement, there was a slight riot going on in the entire Uni.

At first, I was quite enthusiastic about the forthcoming holidays.

6 days of holidays...wat should i do with it?

Apparently, there was no such thing called "what should i do with my 6 days holidays" for my other Uni frens.

They were so bc with packings, and ticket booking once they got informed about the news.

The rumour that everyone would be quarantined once the Uni has closed the front door at 6pm had definitely flustered everyone especially juniors.
Many of them followed the trend of leaving UUM.

They hadn't even booked the tickets and yet they just finished packing and fled from UUM.

The whole situation was like World War 2.

Everyone was so afraid of the Japanese Soldiers and did their best to flee the battle scene.

Likewise, in this case, Japanese soldiers were like H1N1 and battle scene was like UUM.

I was told that the uni made the decision of suspending classes after a large number of students were referred to the PKU with mild symptoms of the virus.
From my point of view, class suspension is a must.
And yet allowing the students to return home wasn't a good way to curb the spread of the flu.
Dun u think it will oni let the virus to spread even more rapidly?
If u have ever seen the doctor in PKU, u might know y the flu can spread out that rapidly and stealthily in UUM.
My previous experience tell me that the doctors in PKU are freaking damned irresponsible.
Their first question usually is "what kinda problems do u hav?",
and next, you can get ur butt out of that chair and wait outside to take your medicine.
And weeks ago, my roommate who had the flu went to c the doctor.
He told me that the doctor simply gav him some fever and flu medicine without having further check-up.
How the heck can the flu not even spread if the doctors act like this?
This time, I hav made the decision to stay bac in UUM.
Hopefully nothing bad will happen to me.
And to my frens out there, take care.

Spring Festival 2009

Spring Festival Show took place in 16th of March 2009 in Dewan Mas.
Honestly, I was quite eager and had high expectation for the Spring Fest Show since the Moonfest Charity Show 2008 was so well done.

However, this time it turned out to be quite a let-down.

It's not like the show is really terrible, but it's just not as entertaining as the Moonfest Show 2008.

I think the the emcees have to bear some responsibility for the "failure" of the show.

I mean, the emcees really suck like leeches.

They kept on saying something ridiculous and sometimes I just couldn't help laughing out.

The most ridiculous gaffe happened when we're going to sing the University Song - Biru Warna.

One of the emcees dared to "memohon" the audience to "duduk" when it came to singing the University Song.

Perhaps, they should read the book - HOW NOT TO BE SUCK AS AN EMCEE.

Other than that, the show seemed to lack variety on the performances.

The emcees had gone on stage to perform for so many times.

Maybe The Spring Fest 2009 should be renamed to "The Emcees Concert 2009".

Anyway, there are some performances that I quite like, for eg, Human Pyramid Performance, Girs Peforming Hiphop dance and the drama show.

(Sorry lazy to upload the pics)

By the way, there's still another ridiculous thing I havn't mentioned.
It's about the lucky draw prize.

On tt night, one of the lucky draw winners was my roommate - Keong.

Guess what did he get?

A basket of woman things: Toner, Breast Enhancement Soap and last but not least,

the Vagina Spray!

It's damned funny.

I mean,

KEONG has a penis,

What the hell is he supposed to do with that vagina spray?

Triple Kill the Goddamn Broodmothers!

If you aren't a Dota player, probably you wont get what the title means.
Ok, let me explain,
Broodmother is actually one of the Dota Heroes.

In fact, it can be rather redoubtable if the player is really good at using this hero.
I admit I would be quite happy if I were assigned to use this hero.

However, when it comes to reality, it's a totally different story.

I HATE SPIDER.

Unfortunately, my hostel room is full of this kind of goddamn creature.

It's just very unpleasant to sit or study under these spiders.
Let hav a look at my very nauseating "roommates":

Ain't they big and disgusting?

It's not enough, let look at the spiderlings:

What a big family. n they look very creepy...

If you look carefully, actually you can see all these poor little things getting caught in the spiderweb.

Having seen them everyday within these few months made me become sick of them.
I just couldn't stand it anymore.
So, today, I became rather determined to get rid of all these spiders.

With the help of my "weapon" - a wet mop, I swept it across the spiderweb to clean up the web.
At the same time, I did need to aim nicely at the spiders in order to squash and kill them.
It took me almost one hour to kill all these spiders.
Huh!
All my hard works really paid off,

becuz finally my hostel room turned out to be :

It might look a bit messy on the tables, but at least there are nth hanging on the ceiling anymore and it look clean.

Most importantly, I can bid my ever nauseating "roommates" an everlasting GOODBYE.
Congratulate me!
